Research Consortium for Speckled Computing: Early Moves

designer responsible for concept development of straps for speckled computers with 3 axis accelerometers used by early years development researchers from Moray House with pre-school children, looking at richness of movement and focusing initially on throwing actions towards understanding the impact of movement pedagogy on child development

the brief: to make the straps acceptable but not distracting to the children; to constrain movement of the nodes against clothing and skin throughout vigorous play sessions, so that data would be reliable; straps had to fit any child dressed for any weather; they had to be quick to put on and remove; and could not constrain the child’s movement

tansleyshakeshaft is available to work on the development of wearable concepts, offering user based and crafts expertise.
